Custom CDS
You can create a custom CD that has animations for one or more music tracks.
The animations are stored on the CD instead of the user's hard drive. This way,
the animations are portable and can be replicated onto multiple CDs.
Using a standard audio CD, save a name for the CD by selecting "Save New
CD..." from the Song or CD popup. Then, save song titles for each music
track that will be on the final CD by selecting "Set Song Title..."
from the Song popup. Record and attach a rave to any music track by selecting
"Save and Attach Rave..." from the Song popup. When you are satisfied
with the song titles and raves, create a custom folder by selecting "Create
CD Master Folder..." from the CD popup. You will be asked for a name to be given
for the final CD. This command will create a "VusicCD" folder at the root level
of the hard drive on which Vusic resides. If a VusicCD folder already exists,
then the contents of the existing folder is deleted. This custom folder contains
all the needed folders and files to be "burned" onto a custom CD. This folder
should be copied to the hard drive or partition that contains a copy of the
audio tracks for the audio CD.
The CD you need to burn can be a mixed mode CD or an enhanced CD. Mixed mode CDs
are single-session CDs that have a data track at the beginning followed by the
audio tracks. Enhanced CDs are multi-session CDs that have the audio tracks in
the first session and the data in the second session. If you intend to play the
final CD in standard CD players, then enhanced CDs are recommended. The VusicCD
folder should be placed into the data track. If you want the custom CD to work
on Macintoshes and Windows machines, you will need to burn a hybrid CD. Make sure
that you turn on the setting that allows long file names. Check the documentation
for your CD burning software about how to make a mixed mode or enhanced CD.
The Raves folder of the VusicCD folder will contain the song titles and raves
for the current music CD. To change the order of the songs, you can rename the
file name extensions. The last two letters of the extension are the music track
number. The "R" in the extension means rave and the "S"
in the extension means song title. The file with the "cds" extension
is the name of the custom CD and will be the name that displays when Vusic plays
the custom CD. You can only have one rave or song title for a music track. Make
sure that the order of the file name extensions matches the order of the final
music tracks on the custom CD.
You can create a custom CD using music tracks from different CDs. This is done
by adding raves and song titles from additional CDs to the existing VusicCD folder.
Select "Add to CD Master Folder..." from the CD popup to add the raves
and song titles for the new current CD. You will need to edit the file name extensions
of the files in the Raves folder in the VusicCD folder. Make sure that the order
of the file name extensions matches the order of the final music tracks on the
custom CD.
When playing a custom CD, the CD name should appear automatically and any song
titles should also appear automatically. When a rave is played, the components
are loaded from the CD. These special raves are locked and cannot be changed.
All manual editing and loading is disabled as long as the rave is attached.
You can detach the rave at any time, however. Not only are the raves locked,
but all components on the CD are locked as well and cannot be loaded if copied
to your hard drive.
To see the raves on another computer, Vusic must be installed on that computer.
However, even an unregistered or expired version of Vusic will play the raves
automatically. You do not need to register Vusic to see the animations. Using
a software player other than Vusic will not play the animations.
